It seems like the excitement for Split Fiction isn’t slowing down anytime soon, as a movie adaptation of the game is already in the works.
Variety has spilled the beans that Story Kitchen is the driving force behind this cinematic venture. These folks have previously gotten their hands busy with adaptations of Hazelight’s earlier game, It Takes Two, which is being developed under Amazon’s wing, along with projects like Toejam and Earl, Slim Rancher, and Vampire Survivors.
The buzz around this project is catching the attention of big names in Hollywood—offers are flooding in from numerous top-tier studios eager to get involved.
Split Fiction hit the gaming scene just this March and made quite the splash, selling a million copies in just 48 hours. By the end of its first week, two million copies had flown off the virtual shelves.
“Wow, we’re absolutely blown away! It’s simply amazing,” Hazelight expressed on Bluesky after hitting that impressive milestone. “Thanks a million to our fans, both old and new—we love seeing your enthusiasm for our game.”
On a related note, the movie version of It Takes Two is shaping up to be something special. It has none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson attached, and the script is being penned by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, the creative minds behind Sonic the Hedgehog.
