Okay, so let’s dive into this. First off, this game, Two Falls – Nishu Takuatshina. It’s one of those narrative-driven things where you’re thrown into a couple of different shoes. Like, you’re Maikan, this young Innu dude living in what’s now Canada in the 17th century. Then you’ve got Jeanne, a Daughter of the King. She kinda got in over her head, stuck all alone somewhere, way far off from where she should be. Anyway, it’s like one of those flip-the-script stories, you get to see things from both perspectives, which is super neat… or confusing, maybe both?
Now, about Jeanne, she’s got this unlikely adventure. So, she takes this journey on a ship named L’Intrépide – I think that means bold or unafraid, but really, the ship had a bit of a rough go. Guess what? She and her dog, Capitaine, end up being the only ones left. No idea what happened to the others. Bummer. So now she’s gotta hustle to Quebec. Meanwhile, over here, Maikan’s got his own deal. It’s like he’s this young hunter from a remote Innu group. Sounds like he’s got big shoes to fill, being the great-grandson of a medicine man and all. He’s on this mission trying to figure out why everything seems to be going downhill for his people. Serious stuff.
In this game, you see the world through the characters’ eyes. Literally! It’s all first-person. You control Jeanne and Maikan using those usual controller sticks. Run, talk, look around, yada yada. Okay, and so, there’s this Codex thing too. It’s this, uh, collection of stuff. Details about characters, places, animals, you name it. It’s different for Jeanne and Maikan, which kinda makes things more interesting if you’re into that sort of detail.
Oh, and hey, for all you trophy hunters, there’s a Platinum trophy you can snag. You gotta do some random stuff too: pet the dog, use a card, hear a frog – I think that’s what it is? Pretty quirky. And yeah, let’s not miss the nod to the Indigenous communities and their cultural input. Cool touch for authenticity, I’d say. Anyway, if you’re keen, this is all out on PS5, so you can give it a whirl and see where your choices take those characters.
Anyway, that’s my ramble. Who knows if I got everything down right, but here’s hoping!
