Alright folks, here we go again. Summer Game Fest 2025 just wrapped up, and oh boy — zip. Nada. Not even a whisper about Team Cherry’s elusive Hollow Knight: Silksong. Seriously, it’s like waiting for rain in a drought. Not a single scrap of new gameplay or a hint of release news to nibble on. Nothing.
It feels like ages since we first heard about this game back in 2019. You’d think we’d be numb to the disappointment by now. But no, Geoff Keighley decided to spice things up with a cheeky jab in his presentation. Can’t say I blame him, but man, it stung a bit.
So there we were, all hyped for Marvel’s 2025 Deadpool VR trailer, and Geoff reads this letter from Wade Wilson. Get this: the letter tells him to skip the Silksong trailer in favor of Deadpool’s VR splash. Ouch. Neil Patrick Harris as Deadpool? Sure, I’m interested. But still.
Now, let’s talk about Team Cherry. They’ve been pretty much silent since that small delay in 2023. We briefly heard something about a 2025 release window in April, thanks to a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it clip during Nintendo’s announcement. But besides that, zilch.
And yet, here we are, desperate for even a crumb of information. It’s like Elden Ring all over again, right? We hype ourselves up despite the lack of news. I guess hope springs eternal in the world of gaming.
Adding salt to the wound, Silksong’s Steam page got some back-end updates not too long ago. Naturally, that had people buzzing with hope for a new trailer or maybe (fingers crossed) a stealth release at the game fest. But, alas, no joy.
But let’s not give up just yet. There’s still the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase on June 8th. 10:00am PT sharp — mark your calendars. I’m clinging onto hope that Microsoft will come through, maybe even blow us away with some Silksong news.
Every year, Microsoft rolls out some juicy tidbits at their summer event, especially for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. And given Silksong is set to launch on Game Pass, what better time to drop that release date bombshell?
I’m not holding my breath for a surprise release, but hey — a person can dream. And if we end up with nothing, well, this isn’t my first heartbreak. After all, I survived being a Bloodborne fan.
