Oh man, where to start? So, you know Doug Jung, right? The guy who wrote Star Trek Beyond back in 2016? Well, guess what? He’s jumping onto the Mass Effect train, leading the charge for their new TV show. Yeah, I know, seems like a big deal.
Anyway, or wait—let’s backtrack a bit. Deadline spilled the beans that Doug’s not just writing but also calling the shots as the showrunner. And it’s not like he’s new to this game. I mean, he worked on The Cloverfield Paradox in 2018 and penned a couple episodes of Mindhunter on Netflix. Both those were pretty wild rides, if you ask me. Plus, he’s doing some historical drama stuff for Apple+ called Chief of War. Busy guy, huh?
What else? Oh right, he’s sharing the executive producer hat with Dan Casey and Michael Gamble from Electronic Arts. So, a solid team there.
Amazon gave the thumbs up to this Mass Effect series back in November 2024. But—and here’s the kicker—we have no clue when it’s dropping. Isn’t that just the way though? Always keeping us on our toes.
And speaking of Amazon, did you catch their Fallout show? Critics ate it up. The next season’s supposed to hit later this year, so maybe we should check that out while waiting for Mass Effect. Anyway, I got distracted there. Bottom line? Keep an eye out for this one. Could be epic. Or not. Hard to tell these days.
