Okay, so I went to PAX East 2025, right? Not sure if I was hunting for a game or just wandering, but I stumbled on this quirky platformer, Love Eternal. And let me tell ya, with all the games out there, finding one that screams originality is like finding a unicorn wearing sunglasses. No lie.
Picture this: Two siblings, moving from Oregon to LA. Wildfires everywhere. Their game clearly picks up on that craziness. I think. Or at least, that’s what they told me. The creators apparently love this anime, Perfect Blue. Never watched it, but sure, let’s go with that vibe, I guess.
So, you play as Maya. Everything’s pretty normal—or is it? You’re chatting with family in this nice little house, then bam—phone rings. Next thing she knows, family’s vanished, and everything outside is old and weird. It’s like stepping into a vintage fever dream. Or maybe not, who knows.
Then, of course, it’s platforming time. Maya can flip gravity. Yup, defying physics like she owns the place. But there’s a catch—can’t spam it mid-air. Trust me, tried it. Anyway, you get these red stones later on, letting you flip again. Some real mind-benders here. If you’ve played Celeste or VVVVVV, you’ll get the drift.
Developers want you to, I dunno, feel things? It’s about using your brain to dodge traps and having some story pop up about a castle of bitter memories or whatever. Like, twisted and kinda emotional. Honestly, expecting to end up either in tears or existential crisis by the finish line.
Anyway, it’s a four-hour ride, tops. Releases soon on all the usuals—PlayStation, Xbox, Switch. And PC, of course. If you try it, shoot me a message. Maybe we’ll have a laugh or cry over it. Who even knows with these games anymore.
