Man, the anticipation for this Resident Evil Requiem segment was off the charts at June’s Capcom Spotlight. I mean, we all wanted this super hands-on gameplay demo, right? But yeah, that’s not exactly what we got.
So, they showed us a peek into why Capcom’s steering this sequel where it’s going. Kind of neat, I guess.
Funny thing though, the Requiem bit was more of a Creators’ Message—a bit like those developer diary things. Sure, some gameplay popped up, but mostly it was folks chatting away. Can’t blame them, really.
Oh, and they spilled the beans on a few things that had fans scratching their heads. Grace, the game’s lead, she’s part of the Ashcroft clan from the Resident Evil Outbreak series. Big whoop, right? But hey, connects some dots.
The Requiem narrative is a cool shift away from the Winters family saga. Guess Capcom’s feeling nostalgic about the whole Raccoon City and Umbrella chaos. Fits the 30th anniversary theme too, so there’s that.
Now, why isn’t our boy Leon Kennedy running the show in Requiem? Especially with his history with Raccoon City’s freaky police station. Simple answer: Capcom wanted someone who freaks out a bit. Leon’s too chill for that.
Plus, Grace being the star fits since she’s like the average gamer—a bit clueless but also kind of a badass with her FBI training. Makes her relatable, you know?
Oh, almost forgot. At Summer Game Fest, it came out that Requiem will roll out entirely in both first and third-person. Weird, right? Capcom said it wasn’t because of that third-person DLC for Resident Evil Village. Turns out players just like sticking with their favorites.
Anyway, mark your calendars. Resident Evil Requiem’s dropping February 27, 2026, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Feels like forever, doesn’t it?
