Janos Flösser, the former head of the Hitman creator IO Interactive, has announced his latest venture, a new gaming studio called Wombo Games.
Wombo Games is currently developing an exciting strategy roguelike called Raiders of Blackveil, which is anticipated to debut in Early Access this summer.
Flösser established Wombo in 2023. His career at IO Interactive spanned nearly a decade, from 1998 until 2008. After that, he transitioned to Square Enix, where he held the position of chief creative officer until 2016. Following his time there, he became the CEO of Crey Games.
Beyond these roles, Flösser also took on partnership responsibilities at Promentum Capital, eventually becoming a senior partner.
“We aimed to keep Wombo small and agile, curious to see just how far we could take it,” Flösser shared with GamesBeat. “We secured funding and kicked off in July 2023, so we’re nearing our two-year mark. Remarkably, we had a playable version ready around six weeks in, which caught the attention of our investors. They were immediately taken by its concept and have been keen players ever since. It’s unique for me to see investors so enthusiastic and engaged with our team and the game itself. This passion helped us secure funding on three occasions over the past two years. Right now, we’re all about crafting a game that perfectly fits its audience.”
