I recently caught up with the Overture trailer, and like many others, I delved into some detailed fan analyses that dissect every frame. It got me wondering—what’s the key message you want fans to pick up from it? Is there a particular aspect they should focus on?
Ji-won Choi: Seeing those meticulous fan breakdowns was truly touching. It’s amazing to feel all the love and dedication from fans worldwide. What we aimed to communicate with the trailer was straightforward—our gratitude for the feedback we’ve received over time. We’ve consistently heard their thoughts, and we want to deliver something that signals we’re really listening. The trailer encapsulates that sentiment.
Given that Lies of P initially came out without soaring expectations and took everyone by surprise with its quality, I’m curious about your approach to fan feedback. Now that fans have high hopes for Overture, how do you decide which feedback to incorporate without compromising your creative vision?
Ji-won Choi: This interplay is crucial, seeing it as a collaboration between us and our players. We take this collaborative process seriously—it involves analyzing what aspects resonate well and where we might be falling short. Every piece of feedback matters. Some suggestions align easily with our objectives, while others might challenge our perspectives. We don’t dismiss the latter; instead, we bring them up with the team, note them down, and start testing promptly. By doing this, we can confirm if these ideas work for us. It’s all about validation and improvement.
The impression I got from the trailer is that the base game often feels like a solitary experience. Sure, returning to Hotel Krat offers some interaction, but beyond that, it’s quite isolated. Yet, in the trailer, P seems to have company more often. There’s a dynamic scene where P blows a horn, and, I believe, Aladoro smashes in to join the battle. Does Overture aim to be less solitary in that sense?
Ji-won Choi: Predicting how players might feel in terms of loneliness is tricky, but our main goal was to delve deeper into the intriguing characters we’ve started crafting. In the base game, you might have glimpsed or heard about various characters through subtle hints. With this expansion, we’re inviting players to explore these characters more fully. We want to ensure you have a richer, more comprehensive encounter with the captivating personas we’re reintroducing.
