Ah, Yuji Horii. Seriously, it’s like he just can’t help himself when it comes to spilling the beans. Not complaining, though. His little slip-ups feel like gifts to all us RPG fans hanging onto every word.
So, picture this: Dream Team’s most talkative member—in a good way—at some comic convention in Napoli, Italy. And there he is, casually dropping hints about a Chrono Trigger remake just casually making its way into conversation. Yeah, you heard that right. Well, except we apparently didn’t hear it, because when someone tried to get a bit more info, Horii did the classic hand-over-mouth move. The translator played along and said “you heard nothing.” Cue the crowd going wild.
Man, I kind of love how Horii has this history of letting things slip. Like, back in July 2015, dude casually confirmed localizations for Dragon Quest VII and VIII’s 3DS versions. These weren’t even new announcements in Japan—they were more than two years old! And then, out of nowhere, he throws in that Dragon Quest XI will be on “NX”—a.k.a. the Switch—when nobody was supposed to know that yet. Just PS4 and 3DS, remember? Nope, Horii had other ideas.
Oh, and mark the calendar—or don’t, because who even remembers dates? March 11 was the 30th anniversary of Chrono Trigger’s Japan launch. Square Enix made a big deal about more festivities lined up. What are they? Who knows, but fingers crossed for something epic. Anyway, enough of my rambling. What’s next in the rumor mill?
