Okay, so Nintendo’s big cheese, Shuntaro Furukawa, is basically saying “whoopsie daisy” about the whole Nintendo Switch 2 fiasco. Can’t find one? Join the club. They’re scrambling to churn out more of these gadgets but, surprise surprise, everyone wants one.
At this fancy-pants shareholder meeting—where they probably serve tiny sandwiches—Furukawa dropped the bomb about the crazy demand. Apparently, people in Japan are entering some lottery on My Nintendo Store like it’s a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s factory. Over 2.2 million folks threw their names in the hat, and let me tell ya, that’s like if the entire population of New Mexico decided they all wanted a Switch. Mind-blowing, right?
They’ve done, like, four of these lottery things and still haven’t picked everyone. Talk about a bummer if your name’s still not up. Another round’s coming in July, so cross your fingers, folks.
Retailers are also getting on board with these lotteries, but word on the street is some shops are actually selling them off the shelf now. So there’s hope… maybe.
Furukawa keeps saying they’ll pump out more and more units, so hang tight! Maybe don’t sell a kidney or anything drastic just yet.
Oh, and they rolled out the Switch 2 with Mario Kart World and a bunch of games are lined up—Donkey Kong Bananza this month, Super Mario Party next week, some Pokémon adventure in October, and a Kirby game that sounds like it’s never coming, but hey, fingers crossed!
If you’re hunting one down, it’ll set you back about £395.99 in the UK, €469.99 across Europe, and $449.99 in the States. Prices as wild as these demand numbers!
Anyway — sorry, got sidetracked. Where was I? Oh right, keep your eyes peeled for those draws and sales. Might get lucky one day!
