I came across something odd today, or maybe it wasn’t odd, but it sure felt that way. So there’s this job listing from Santa Monica Studio, you know, the folks behind God of War? Anyway, they’re looking for someone with skills in “martial arts, acting, or dance.” What’s that about, right? To me, it sounds like their new project might stray far from their axe-swinging, mythological roots. Imagine something as artsy as a dance fight — the mind reels.
These guys have been knee-deep in all things Kratos for ages. Seriously, like two decades! It seems like they’ve been living in that world forever. Six games, reinventing the wheel with the 2018 reboot and then Ragnarok rolling things up nicely. So, the big question on the fanboy (or fangirl) circuit is, what’s next? Something about this new job posting stirs my curiosity. Are they cooking up a fresh dish, or just remixing their classic recipe?
Right, now back to that quirky job requirement. It’s for a Cinematic Artist role, and there’s this whole angle about needing martial arts skills. Say what? I mean, maybe they just want to bring some epic cinematics to life. Or maybe it’s a secret code for something wild. A ninja-dance hybrid game, anyone? I’m just throwing spaghetti at the wall here.
They say it’s gonna be this third-person action deal, probably for the PlayStation 6 — assuming that’s a thing by 2027 or 2028. Cory Barlog, the mastermind behind God of War (the newer one, not the ancient classic), might be steering this ship. God, I wonder if he drops hints over coffee, like, “Oh yeah, our next thing’s gonna be a killer waltz match.” Who knows.
Whether they can keep their lips zipped till the big reveal is another story. But, again — could be next year when they spill the beans. Or maybe the beans spill them; ever think of that? Life’s funny that way.
Anyway, I’m here, just a spectator guessing their next move. Whatever they’re up to, I’m buckled in for the ride. Stay tuned — or don’t; I mean, your call, really.
