So, EA did this whole Battlefield 6 multiplayer thing last night. Or was it early morning? Honestly, time’s a blur. Anyway, they were super hooked on core stuff gamers love. You know, the usual: maps, modes, all that jazz. But, weirdly enough, they skipped over something a lot of us were itching to see. Go figure.
You see, they didn’t exactly forget it. It was more like a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment. Yup, the battle royale mode everyone’s been buzzing about. Ripple Effect’s got their hands on it, those same folks who did Battlefield Portal. Pretty exciting stuff, right?
There was this tiny trailer at the end. Suddenly, you’re watching these players ditching something? Turns out, it’s a giant wall of fire doing the chasing. Cars and tanks went zooming around, too. Not that anyone’s surprised by that bit.
They didn’t officially call it a battle royale or tell us if the Firestorm name’s sticking around. But, walls of fire bringing a throwback to Battlefield 5’s Firestorm? Kind of feels like they’re hinting at it. Or maybe I’m just overthinking. Eh, who knows? Back to that trailer—no clue if it’s dropping alongside Battlefield 6 on October 10, but those Battlefield Labs folks will see it soon, supposedly.
Now, it’d be kind of funny if they kept the Firestorm title, considering there’s this Operation Firestorm map around. Real potential for confusion there. And with talk about chasing 100 million players, a free-to-play thing could line up nicely with Call of Duty: Warzone’s model. Makes sense.
