Oh wow, Early Access. Back again, huh? Feels like home to me. Not sure why, maybe it’s the thrill of watching a game grow from a pile of pixels. Used to be, Early Access was a graveyard of half-baked ideas. Devs sometimes just… ditched them. Got paid and vanished. Not all, though. Definitely not all. But yeah, it was sketchy. Lately, things have shifted. Now, it’s where cool stuff brews. Enter Vanguard Exiles—our latest sneak peek.
So, Vanguard Exiles. It’s from some brainiac who worked on Magic: The Gathering. But wait—no cards, at least not like you’d think. This game’s all about hexes and battles, kind of feels like a tabletop adventure. I wouldn’t be surprised if someday it comes in a fancy box with expensive minis. I’d grab it, too. Just saying.
Just a quick heads-up: Vanguard Exiles is still in Early Access. More work needed—duh. Any gripes I have are just snapshots of now. Take them with a grain of salt, right? Honestly, my quibbles are mostly about RNG. Good ol’ randomness.
You’re basically leading a bunch of mercenaries through trenches. Kind of like room-hopping for points. Some rooms give gold, others make you stronger, or you might run into a… bear? Yep, a bear. First to 80 points wins. Deciding which rooms to snag—trickier than it sounds.
Fun fact: Vanguard Exiles is an auto-battler. Urgh, I know some folks cringe at that. Strategy’s about picking your battles wisely. Send all your troops to a high-value spot? Maybe not smart. All your eggs in one basket, you know? It’s strategy without micromanaging. And, somehow, it’s neat and not lazy.
Tons of unit options, but you don’t get them all at once. Between rounds, you randomly get cards. Gold buys better cards, so save up. But there’s a free one, so you’re not totally out of luck if you’re broke. Remember, this ain’t a traditional card game. More a tool for deploying units.
Playing Vanguard Exiles is a blast. But hey, gray areas. No story mode yet. Hello, devs? Need some background on these mercs. Sturdy dwarves, nimble elves, creepy cultists—what’s the scoop? Mechanics first, fluff later, I get it. But we need the fluff!
Balancing, oh boy. Sometimes matches feel lopsided. You mess up early, and it’s an uphill battle. Makes campaigns drag. By round four, I can tell if I’m toast. Would love to feel competitive, win or lose. Needs tweaks—hey, just a thought.
Unkillable units are annoying. Dwarves with armor… too tanky. Leads to early-game stalemates. Need early counters or just, I don’t know, find another way? It’s not a dealbreaker but frustrating.
So yeah, loving Vanguard Exiles’ vibe. A few tweaks and more depth—it’s a strategy fan’s dream. I’m eagerly watching the game bloom towards its release. Now’s the time to dive in because this game’s shaping up nicely. Fingers crossed for those changes and balance tweaks. Could be epic.
Game review thanks to an Early Access copy. So, there’s that.
