So, there’s this new Switch 2, right? And I gotta admit, the screen—it’s like, wow, needs some serious help. A dude named Chimolog over in China says the screen’s response time is at a snaily 17.06 ms. No clue how he tested it, just throwing that out there so don’t yell at me if it’s off. Anyway, it’s got this 1080p, 120 Hz, 7.9-inch LCD thing going on.
Sometimes it can hit 8.88 ms, but then it crawls to 27.46 ms. Like, seriously? Imagine pixels just shuffling along while you’re trying to game at 60 FPS. Chimolog put it up against a couple of monitors and, let’s just say, the Switch 2 lost. By a landslide.
Interestingly, there’s this Innocn M2U Mini-LED monitor that apparently blows the Switch out of the water with an 11.06 ms response. Yeah, 65% faster. So Nintendo seems to have focused on everything else—brightness, color, contrast—like, okay, but what about the speed? The colors look decent though—100% of the sRGB and all that jazz.
Oh, oh! And this special RGB setup, something crazy with the diodes in a wave pattern? Makes the text look like it’s in a funhouse mirror. Charming, right?
What’s super annoying, though, is they didn’t manage to test it at 120 Hz, which is like… was anyone else curious how that would’ve panned out? Probably still not great—my gut feeling.
But here’s the kicker: despite all these screen woes, people are snapping up the Switch 2 like hotcakes. Broke a sales record with 3.5 million sold in four days, if you can believe that. Kinda wild to think folks are glued to it, even with the display acting like it’s from, I don’t know, ten years ago.
Let’s just hope an OLED version comes along soon. ‘Cause, let’s be real, the current display? Could be better. Like, a lot better. But hey, we’ll see what Nintendo cooks up next. Fingers crossed and all that!
