Alright, so here’s the thing — I dunno why this caught my eye, but I’m diving into this spat between Nintendo and Amazon. It’s kinda juicy if you ask me, though maybe it’s my habit of getting caught up in random drama. Anyway, here it goes.
So, rumors flying around that Nintendo, you know, the big gaming honcho from Japan, yanked their stuff off Amazon US. And why? Well, the whispers in the wind (a.k.a. Bloomberg) say it’s all because of a beef over some third-party folks selling Nintendo games at bargain-bin prices. Yeah, cheaper than what Nintendo planned. Those sneaky sellers were snagging them dirt-cheap from Southeast Asia. Quite a hustle, right?
Apparently, Nintendo wasn’t too pleased seeing their carefully priced gems going for peanuts and just sorta started disappearing their goodies from Amazon’s US marketplace. Guess they didn’t enjoy playing hide and seek with their own products. Next thing you know, it’s mostly third-party sellers popping up instead of the big A.
Amazon though, they tried the peace-making route, like “Hey, Nintendo, how about we slap some ‘authentic’ labels on your stuff?” But, if the grapevine is to be believed, Nintendo wasn’t buying it. Like, literally. They just packed up and said “Adios!” to Amazon US (or so they say).
But let’s not forget, Nintendo and Amazon are both shrugging this off, like “Nah, not us.” Nintendo’s all like, “What disagreement? We don’t talk deals in public.” Amazon, on their end, is saying Bloomberg’s got its wires crossed. They’re thrilled to serve up Nintendo goods or something—except maybe this one isn’t on the menu.
Oddly enough, sure, Switch 2 is ghosting on Amazon US, but you’ll catch it chillin’ on Amazon Overseas. Canada, UK, take your pick. And hey, prepping for Donkey Kong madness on Amazon US is a go, but Switch 2 is a no-show.
Despite all this rumble-tumble, Nintendo’s breaking records left and right—3.5 million Switch 2 consoles just flying off the shelves in a flash. Who’d have thought?
And there you have it. The scoop sprinkled with a hint of confusion, because truth is sometimes stranger than fiction. Or just weird in its own way.
