Alright, so imagine this: there’s a game called Stunt Flyer kicking around for the PlayStation 5. Flying? Check. Open world? Absolutely. Now, I don’t know who exactly thought up this idea, but here it is, a smorgasbord of maps and characters with quirky names like Jimmy Jetstream and Pirate Queen. Why did those stick in my head? Just sounded fun, I guess.
Anyway – oh, right – so you’re cruising through these worlds, right? Gloster, Captain, Nimbus. Sounds like a forecast, but it’s just part of the game. You get to zip around, complete missions, and there’s some local co-op thrown in there too. Nice to share the chaos with a friend sometimes.
Now, let’s talk controls for a sec. They teach you the basics pretty fast with a tutorial – master those buttons, left stick for turning, R1 to hit the gas, L1 to slow your roll. No crashing allowed, or well, maybe just a little. Got you doing barrel rolls like you’re in some sort of aerial ballet. Do I actually get it right every time? Nope, but that’s part of the fun, right? Like, life’s not a straight line and neither is flying a virtual plane.
Oh, and trophies. This part threw me a bit. You’d think there’d be a shiny Platinum one to aim for on the PS5, but nah, it’s all Bronze and Silver. Three Golds if you’re persistent, but no chest-thumping Platinum. Kinda odd, but whatever, right? You collect coins, chase gold medals, and somehow it keeps you going through the maps.
Stunt Flyer’s got its price at $14.99 – a little trivia for those keeping track. And yeah, there’s also a version on PlayStation 4. Whether or not it’s worth it is up to you. But hey, if flying around doing loop-de-loops and diving through rings sounds like your kind of thrill ride, why not give it a spin?
And before I forget – again – this whole thing is based on a PlayStation 5 copy from Ultimate Games. So that’s that. Anyway, I’m off to maybe crash some more planes. Who knows?
