“My user calls. May I pass?”
So, TRON is back. Kind of. Maybe? I dunno, guess we’ll find out in October. But hey, until then, there’s some buzz with a game called TRON: Catalyst hitting Nintendo Switch. Made by Big Fan (that’s Devolver Digital’s side hustle) and those folks over at Bithell Games.
Picture this: You’re in the TRON world, like from the 2010 movie, TRON: Legacy. This game takes you there, with some weird time-looping stuff and fighting and, oh yeah, apparently everything’s falling apart because the big guy who made it all said “see ya.”
They even tossed out a trailer showing how messy this digital place looks now. Quite the sight.
Now, the scoop on the story is kinda wild:
You’ve got Exo, this courier. Everything’s cool until boom! A mysterious package (cue suspense) blows up and suddenly, she’s got powers that no ordinary program should have. And surprise, surprise, the grid’s cops aren’t too happy about it. Exo’s got to hustle to solve the grid’s mysteries.
Here’s what you do in the game:
Time-looping Action (whatever that means): Exo uses these glitchy time tricks to fix her screw-ups, dodging factions to unlock secrets in this digital wasteland. The grid’s not like your grandma’s sewing kit; it’s falling apart.
Classic TRON Fighting: Think sleek moves and enemies galore. Hop on a Light Cycle and zip through missions. Get good at those Disc Kicks, grab Data Shards, and boost Exo’s skills.
New TRON Tale: Dive into Exo’s new powers, chase down the ‘Glitch’ messing everything up, all while escaping Conn—a not-so-nice guy from Core. She’s got to do more than run; she’s got to stop this loop.
Explore, Discover: Walk rain-soaked streets (in a computer? Yup.), meet powerful programs, and get lost in this neon wonderland. The digital future’s as shiny and edgy as ever, with beats that will make your head bop to a synth soundtrack.
Rain inside a computer? Why not! Let’s see how they explain that one.
TRON: Catalyst’s up for grabs now on the Nintendo eShop at $29.99. Want more 411? Head over to bigfangames.com.
